ABOUT SKYROOT
Skyroot Aerospace Private Limited is an Indian space-tech company founded in 2018 by Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Barath Daka with its headquarters in Hyderabad, Telangana. The company aims at creating access to space more affordable, flexible and accessible through its Vikram series of launch vehicles. The small satellite launch vehicles are developed using technologies such as carbon-composite structures, solid-fuel boosters, 3D-printed liquid engines and cryogenic propulsion. Its flagship Vikram-I is designed for payloads of up to 350 kg to Low Earth Orbit, while the upcoming Vikram-II is designed to carry up to 900 kg to LEO.
MISSION- PRARAMBH
Prarambh marked a historic milestone as the first ever private rocket launch from India. The rocket reached a peak altitude of 88.8km and achieved a maximum velocity of Mach 5.07 during its 301.4-second flight.
The mission carried three customer payloads from BAZOOMQ Armenia, Space Kidz India, and N-Space Tech India.
The mission successfully showcased several critical technologies for Skyroot’s Vikram series of orbital launch vehicles, including solid propulsion, carbon-composite structures, avionics, and telemetry systems. The successful demonstration laid the technological foundation for Skyroot’s next-generation orbital launch vehicle, Vikram-I.
PRODUCTS
- VIKRAM-I
Vikram-I is a small-satellite launch vehicle designed for rapid and flexible orbital deployment. It can carry up to 350 kg to LEO and 260 kg to SSO and features an all-carbon-composite structure, solid-fuel boosters, and a 3D-printed liquid engine.
- VIKRAM-II
Vikram-II is a next-generation launch vehicle developed for higher payload capacity and multi-orbit missions. It can carry up to 900 kg to LEO and 600 kg to SSO and incorporates a carbon-composite structure and advanced cryogenic engine. Its launch is targeted for 2027.
- VIKRAM-S
Vikram-S is an all-carbon-composite suborbital rocket that served as Skyroot’s first demonstration vehicle. Launched successfully from Sriharikota in November 2022, the mission Prarambh demonstrated Skyroot’s expertise in developing and launching privately developed rockets.
PROPOSED FUNDING: $2.8-3 BILLION
Skyroot Aerospace is reportedly in advance discussions to raise $2.8-3 billion from global investors including Fidelity, General Catalyst and Benchmark. This valuation has outpaced the $1.1 billion valuation at which Skyroot raised nearly $60 million in May 2026.
